🧪 Step-by-Step: The Deep Storage Flush
To guarantee your machine fires up perfectly when you return, follow this exact, battle-tested workshop breakdown:
1️⃣ Flush the Ink System
- Prep Fresh Dampers: Grab a brand-new set of dampers for the storage process.
- The Distilled Water Pull: Submerge the ink lines into a bottle of pure distilled water. Use a syringe to pull the distilled water all the way through each individual damper until it fills completely.
- Connect & Purge: Plug the water-filled dampers directly onto the printhead intake pins and run an initial "Load Ink" cycle through your printer software to aggressively flush the remaining ink out of the head.
- Clear the Lines: Look closely at your waste ink line—ensure the fluid running out turns completely clear.
2️⃣ Charge the System with Storage Fluid
- Mix the Fluid: Prepare a 50/50 mix of distilled water and specialized printhead moisturizer.
- The Second Flush: Run another "Load Ink" cycle using this 50/50 mixture to safely hydrate the entire internal ink delivery system.
- Lock in Pure Moisture: Disconnect those dampers. Take a small syringe filled with 100% pure printhead moisturizer and gently inject it straight into the intake pins to ensure maximum protection inside the internal nozzle plate.
3️⃣ The Gravity Feed Hack & The Georgia Wet Cap
- The High-Point Bottle: Set up a bottle containing your 50/50 moisturizer mix at the absolute highest physical point on the machine. If the system naturally shifts or attempts to pull liquid while sitting idle, it will slowly draw from this top reservoir rather than starving the nozzles.
- The Georgia Wet Cap: Before parking the carriage, flood the rubber capping station. While some cooler environments require moisturizer, the intense Georgia heat and humidity mean we wet cap exclusively with active DTF cleaning solution.
- Seal it Tight: Manually park the carriage firmly over the flooded capping station to create an airtight, hydrophobic seal that prevents the nozzle face from drying out.
